PHOENIXBORN
Phoenixborn
Book 1 of the Luminaria Chronicles
Lyra Vale survives Aurion by wearing the mask the world expects to see. In a kingdom where magic decides who matters and who disappears, she keeps her secrets buried and her head down—until the Crimson Accord orders her into the palace on a suicide mission.
Steal the Last Ember from the king’s crown.
Do it during the Grand Conclave.
Don’t get caught.
But the palace is nothing like the city that raised her. Its illusions bend reality itself. Its nobles are trained to destroy. And the ones she should fear most notice her instantly. The prince with a blade behind his smile. And the shadowed stranger whose presence bends the air and sends every instinct she has screaming to run.
The deeper she slips into the Conclave, the more the myths surrounding the Ember stop feeling like stories. Aurion’s power isn’t as stable as it looks. Its loyalties aren’t as clean. And the truth buried under the crown is far more dangerous than the heist she came to pull.
Survival was never going to be enough.
Now one wrong move could light the match that burns a kingdom.
“Everything in Aurion is an illusion. Everything.”
ABOUT
WHITNEY
I’ve always loved stories that make you believe in magic. The kind of stories that pull you into another world, make your heart race, and leave you thinking about the characters long after the last page. That love turned into writing — mostly fantasy with a heavy dose of romance, secrets, and slow-burn tension that simmers until it snaps.
I have an English degree from Trinity College, which mostly just means I spent four years reading amazing books and overanalyzing them for fun. Now I live in Portland, Maine with my husband and two cats who are equal parts cuddly and chaotic. When I’m not writing, I’m probably reading, daydreaming about plot twists, or drinking diet coke like it’s my full-time job.
“I’ve spent years learning how to stand in the fire without getting burned.”
